Itinerary

Day 1: Amman Airport - Amman Hotel

Upon arrival to Queen Alia Airport Amman you will be welcomed with a signage after you passed through the customs. Transfer to the hotel in Amman for overnight.

Day 2: Amman Hotel - Umm Qais - Jerash - Ajloun Castle - Amman Hotel (B)

Early morning we drive two hours from Amman to Gadara (Umm Qais), which belonged to the famous decapolis, a union of 10 cities, founded by Alexander the Great. Here you have an overwhelming view over the north Jordan Valley, the Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee. We leave to Jerash, the best example of a Roman provincial city in the whole Middle East. Visit Oval Plaza, Roman colonnaded street, the Nymphaeum and the Temple of Artemis. Next stop is Ajloun the great 12th century Islamic castle built around 1184/85 by the famous Islamic leader Salah al-Din. Overnight Amman hotel.

Day 3: Amman Hotel - 3 Desert Castles - Amman City Tour - Amman Hotel (B)

Today starts our tour to the Desert Castles in eastern Jordan. We visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site Amra Castle with its zodiac dome and the early examples of Omayyad fresco paintings. Moreover you view the fortress-like mysterious Qasr Kharanah and the black basalt Roman/Medieval Islamic fort at Azraq. Back in Amman we discover the historical places in downtown. The Citadel hill with remains from the Roman to the early Islamic period, like the Umayyad Palace, enjoying views over hilly Amman and the Roman Theatre. We stroll via the Souq, where you get an idea of everyday life, and Jabal Amman with its distinctive early 20th century architecture. Overnight Amman hotel.

Day 4: Amman Hotel - Madaba - Mt. Nebo - Dead Sea - Dana View - Shobak Castle - Petra Hotel (B)

Check out from the hotel and drive to Madaba, to view the famous mosaic 6th century map of Palestine in St. George's church. Short ride to Mt. Nebo. This is the place where Moses gazed at the Promised Land before he died and believed to be his burial place. You visit the old monastery, overlook the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and parts of the Holy Land. At Dead Sea Beach, the lowest point on earth, you have leisure time at the beach and the chance to float on salty waters (shower and locker rooms are available). Driving towards Petra we enjoy the view of Dana Reserve and visit in Shobak the Crusader castle built by King Baldwin I. of Jerusalem. Overnight Petra hotel.

Day 5: Petra Visit - Petra Hotel (B)

Visit the red rose city Petra, the biggest attraction of Jordan. Petra was first established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs, a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and founded a commercial empire. You can start the trip on horse back or by foot to the canyon, the so called Siq, and then walk to the most beautiful monument: the Treasury, from here to the Street of Facades, the Royal Tombs and Pharaoh's Castle. Time on your own. Overnight in Petra.

Day 6: Petra Hotel - Wadi Rum jeep tour - Amman Hotel (B)

In the morning we drive 1.5 hours southwards to the protected area of Wadi Rum, one of the most impressing desert landscapes in the world. Here still Bedouins live in a traditional way, and by 4x4 Jeep tour you discover canyons, sand dunes and Nabatean rock inscriptions. Then drive back to the capital Amman, overnight at hotel.

Day 7: Amman Hotel - Amman Airport (B)

Breakfast, latest check out 12:00 noon, dependent from your departure time transfer to Amman Airport to say farewell and board your flight.
