In the morning your friendly driver picks you up from any hotel or residence in Amman. The 2.5 hours ride along the Desert Highway takes you to the astonishing rock city Petra. This fascinating ancient Nabataean capital dominated long time the Arabian trade routes, and is a must see in the Middle East. Meet your guide, who makes history come alive, and start to explore this mystic site. You pass the Siq, a narrow gorge, where you get the first close views of the colorful sandstone, ending at the beautiful Treasury. Walk along the Street of Facades to the Royal Tombs, the Theatre and Qasr Al Bint. Here your guide bids farewell. You have free time on your own, for instance climb the 800 stairs to the impressive Monastery El Deir. Follow the same trail back to the entrance gate. In the afternoon return to your Amman hotel or residence.
